MLB Cities A Guide to Ballparks Tickets and the Cost of Baseball

Baseballin60 Originals ·

All 30 clubs with ballpark addresses, seating capacity, ticket price rankings, parking advice, private suite costs and the training facilities and tax questions that shape a baseball market.

A baseball trip is more than the price of admission

Baseball gives travelling fans something the other major North American leagues cannot match: an enormous choice of regular-season dates. That flexibility can make the sport accessible, but it also makes casual price comparisons unreliable. A weekday afternoon in April and a summer Saturday against a leading rival are different products, even when the seat number is identical.

The ballpark itself changes the trip. At one venue, a train station and a nearby hotel can remove parking from the budget. At another, the lot and the drive out are central parts of the afternoon. Shade, roof coverage and the position of the sun can matter as much to a family as the distance from home plate.

This guide covers MLB’s 30 clubs and their current home bases. It separates indicative ticket costs from exact game quotes, explains suite and parking purchases, and examines future ballpark plans. It also looks at the development facilities and tax considerations that influence the players working in those markets.

How to read the ticket price ranking

The table uses Visit Your Team’s published resale ticket estimates, accessed October 27 2026. Its average-ticket measure is calculated from the resale medians across a venue’s seating tiers. It does not measure the average price actually paid by all spectators, and it is not the cheapest available ticket for a particular game. Equal dollar values share a rank. [1]

All figures are US dollars. Canadian amounts use the source’s fixed August 14 2026 conversion of US$0.72 per Canadian dollar. These are indicative estimates; the source’s individual check dates and estimate flags are not reproduced here. Its fee treatment is not sufficiently standardised to label the figures guaranteed all-in prices. Confirm the exact seat and final checkout amount before purchasing.

The timing matters particularly in late October: a regular-season comparison is not a World Series price guide. Postseason dates, special events and scarcity can move the price far beyond these estimates. Do not compare an October resale listing for one contender with an ordinary regular-season seat elsewhere and call the difference a city premium.

Where a flexible visitor can find value

The Yankees, Dodgers, Giants and Red Sox are near the expensive end of this published index, while the White Sox, Rockies and Guardians are near the lower end. That identifies markets worth comparing, not a universal price for entry. A cheap listing can still be available in an expensive market, particularly when the buyer can choose the opponent and day.

For a family, compare adjacent seats rather than multiplying the cheapest single seat by four. For a longer trip, price a series rather than assuming that all three games cost the same. Promotions, visiting clubs and weekend demand can make one date noticeably more expensive.

Seat comfort deserves its own calculation. A lower-priced afternoon seat in direct sun may be poor value for a visitor who needs shade. Check netting, overhangs, accessible routes and whether a standing-room product includes an actual seat. At older parks, an obstructed view can be a more important distinction than a small saving.

Parking prices depend on the particular product

The Dodgers’ published regular-season general parking guidance lists US$40 in advance and US$45 at the gate. That illustrates why a game ticket and a parking pass should be budgeted separately. [3]

The Cubs offer a different model: free remote parking with a shuttle for eligible night and weekend games. That is not free parking beside Wrigley Field, and it requires checking the current remote lot and operating schedule. [4]

In Toronto, Seattle, New York, San Francisco and other rail-served cities, a visitor should compare public transport with a garage reservation for the whole group. Suburban locations such as Truist Park, Kauffman Stadium and Arlington’s Globe Life Field put more emphasis on identifying the correct lot before setting out. Prepaid access, tailgating permission and the walk to the entrance vary.

A nearby parking business may be perfectly legitimate without being operated by the club. Check the address, event date, vehicle restrictions, arrival window and exit rules. For a day game, do not assume an ordinary weekday commuter price applies; for an evening game, do not assume the garage remains open indefinitely afterward.

What a private box costs in baseball

Suite Experience Group describes many MLB single-game suites in the US$4,000–8,000 range, within a broader US$2,000–18,000-plus market. Those figures are estimates, with the actual price dependent on the event and package. [5]

LuxuryVIPSuites publishes regular-season ranges of US$8,000–30,000 at Yankee Stadium, US$5,000–32,000 at Dodger Stadium and US$2,500–8,000 at Chase Field. These are resale ranges for the entire suite, with catering outside the stated price. They are not confirmed offers for a particular game. [6]

Baseball’s long home schedule gives a group more opportunities to choose a quieter date, but buyers should still compare written packages. A US$4,800 suite for 20 guests starts at US$240 per person; adding US$1,200 of catering takes it to US$300 before other charges. Confirm which tickets, seats, passes and services are included. A shared premium club seat and a private room are different purchases.

The ballpark directory

The directory lists current regular home venues and approximate capacities, rounded for orientation. Special home series may be staged elsewhere. Renovations, standing-room sales and event configurations change inventory, so capacity is not a promise of seats available. During the season, teams use their home ballpark training areas; the separately named complex is the spring training and development base. Street addresses identify the game venue rather than a mailing office. [2, 7–8]

Which clubs have the strongest case for a ballpark change

The Athletics have the clearest temporary-home situation. Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento is their current regular base while the Las Vegas ballpark is being built for a planned 2028 opening. A future Nevada address should not be used for today’s travel advice or today’s player tax comparison. Special series at other venues also make the individual game listing essential. [9]

Tampa Bay has returned to repaired Tropicana Field, while work on a longer-term Tampa solution has advanced. Hillsborough County commissioners approved key development and funding agreements for the Hillsborough College site in August 2026. The future project and the current St Petersburg game address must remain separate in any fan guide. [10–11]

Kansas City is pursuing a new downtown Royals ballpark at Crown Center and Washington Square Park. The city approved a project framework in August 2026, but Kauffman Stadium remains the current home venue. A move downtown would change the parking and transport discussion as much as the view from a seat. [12]

These cases are different from deciding that a much-loved older ballpark should be replaced simply because it is old. A useful assessment considers structural condition, accessibility, climate protection, clubhouse and training needs, neighbourhood connections and the public cost of the proposed solution. Renovation can address some problems without requiring a new site.

Baseball has two important training geographies

Unlike a simple arena-and-practice-court model, baseball operations extend across the home ballpark, spring complexes, minor league affiliates and rehabilitation facilities. The major league club needs cages, pitching space, treatment and preparation areas during the season, while the development organisation needs multiple fields and a place to work outside the major league schedule.

Arizona’s Cactus League and Florida’s Grapefruit League therefore belong in a guide to player facilities. Some rivals share a spring ballpark while retaining separate clubhouses and practice operations. The Dodgers and White Sox train at Camelback Ranch; the Mariners and Padres share Peoria’s complex; the Astros and Nationals share the West Palm Beach site. [8]

For fans, a spring training address is a separate destination and a separate ticket purchase. For players, the quality of those spaces can affect preparation and rehabilitation. Do not assume that all development work is publicly viewable or that the major league roster remains at its spring base once the season begins.

Taxes and the real appeal of a baseball city

Florida and Texas levy no state personal income tax. That can create an advantage for players with the Marlins, Rays, Astros or Rangers, depending on residence and allocation. It does not remove federal tax or taxes linked to work elsewhere. [13–14]

California’s professional athlete sourcing rules use duty days. A long baseball season includes required work beyond the games themselves, so an after-tax comparison needs a calendar of actual duties rather than a simple home-and-away split. Spring work in Florida or Arizona is relevant to the analysis, not proof that the whole salary belongs to that state. [15]

Seattle requires particular care in a multiyear comparison. Washington’s Department of Revenue says a new tax on income above US$1 million begins in 2028. A 2026 guide should not treat the state’s present position as a permanent feature of a Mariners contract. [16]

Toronto adds Canadian and Ontario rules, residency questions and treaty treatment. The Canada–US treaty has a specific exception for team-sport athletes in leagues with regular schedules in both countries. Personal residence, compensation terms and credits require professional analysis; a provincial or state top rate alone is not an effective tax rate. [17]

There are also sporting and lifestyle tradeoffs. Roof coverage, weather, playing environment, access to training staff, travel and the player’s role can all matter. The relevant financial comparison is the total package after tax and living costs, prepared for that individual. This article supplies context, not personal tax or investment advice.

Building a better baseball budget

Choose the dates first, compare real seats and then add the costs that follow from the park’s location. A train connection, shaded seat or nearby hotel can be worth more than a small saving on admission. For a suite, insist on a full event quote. For readers comparing baseball markets, keep the current ballpark, the future stadium plan and the development complex in separate columns of the decision.
