Game Summary
On October 24, 2026, the Washington Capitals defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 in overtime, recovering from a two-goal deficit. Alex Tuch scored twice against his former club, including the winning goal.
Dylan Strome supplied Washington’s other two goals, both during the second period. His first brought the Capitals level at 2-2, and his second gave them their first lead.
Buffalo had taken control early through goals from Jack Quinn and Josh Doan. Tuch started Washington’s comeback when his centering pass deflected off Tage Thompson’s stick and into the net.
The Sabres responded to Strome’s second-period double when Noah Östlund scored at 2:20 of the third. Neither side could break the tie during the remainder of regulation, leaving Tuch to decide the game in overtime.
Charlie Lindgren finished with 18 saves for Washington, and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 30 for Buffalo. The defeat extended the Sabres’ losing streak to three games. Tuch’s two goals gave Washington the final edge in a game featuring several changes of momentum.
